Pups on Parade
ABOUT PUPS ON PARADE

Inspired by Richmond’s highly successful Go Fish project of 2001, Pups on Parade, is a fundraising project involving dog sculptures that will be groomed and transformed into a works of art that will become part of an outdoor art display that moves around town.
Fetch a Cure will be seeking adoption for 25 dog sculptures, in the form of two levels of sponsorship, foster care adoptions and permanent placement adoptions. The sponsored adoptions will include recognition and branding in the Pups on Parade year long marketing and advertising campaign (tv, radio, print and online); name on dog sculptures dog bowl; entrance to VIP tent for unveiling at Easter on Parade; and tickets to the “black collar” reception and auction. Each sponsor will be paired with an artist to complete the desired design.
By adopting a Pups on Parade dog sculpture, sponsors will have a unique opportunity to showcase their support, enthusiasm, and compassion for pet treatment and health care to the community in which they work and live.
ABOUT THE DOGS

Each dog was handcrafted with tlc and took about 30 hours to produce. The sculptor, Bruce Mickelson, started out with flat sheet metal panels. Each dog was drawn out and then hand cut and finished. Once that stage was complete the construction began and they each came to life. Time and care was given to the welding of the dog into what we call a flat 3-d sculpture. After the basic welding and sodering, the dog was hand finished again and sanded to a smooth seam and flawless piece of art, finally the base was added consisting of two FETCH steel bones which have dowel holes for ground securement.
Bruce Mickelson was raised on a farm in Idaho. He has a beautiful wife of 37 years, 3 children and 10 grandchildren. He is Daddy to a weimaraner named Daisy and Dad to a Bichon Frise named Max. He enjoys the outdoors, loves to landscape, and fix anything that needs "fixin." If you come to visit Bruce, he will tell you to "pull up a chair and sit on the floor;" he is full of bad jokes. A self-taught welder who loves his dogs. Bruce enjoys the free moments he gets to weld on anything. He is excited about the opportunity to make these dog statues for FETCH.

MEET THE PUPS AND VOTE
It's a Pupularity Contest!
FETCH a Cure is leaving it up to you, the Richmond Community, to vote on the Top dog. Litters of 4 or 5 pups each will be displayed and rotated throughout the Richmond area. This will serve as one of ways in which onlookers will have an opportunity to view, “first hand,” all of the 25+ Pups on Parade designs. An online gallery will be available May 1st so you can see all these precious pups and choose the "Top Dog".
