The Medical Advisory Board is comprised of Virginia based practitioners established to help FETCH A Cure continue its quest to provide accurate and helpful information about canine cancer and senior healthcare for the region. The Board members will provide advice and counsel to FETCH A Cure as we work towards our mission.

Nature's Healing Touch – Christine M. Blair

Christine is a naturopathic wellness consultant who helps both animals and people to find a natural way to optimal health.


Shady Grove Animal Clinic – Dr. Lori Elliott

Shady Grove Animal Clinic was opened in 2001, as a full service small animal veterinary clinic, by Dr. Jim DeBell and Dr. Lori Elliott. The clinic is fairly new, but the two doctors combined have a total of more than 40 years of veterinary expertise. They also have a respected working relationship with the veterinary specialists in the area.

Dr. Lori Elliott is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Learning about new therapies for diseases, keeping geriatric pets happy and comfortable, and working with methods on how to acclimate new pets into their households, are among some of Dr. Elliott’s interests. When she is not in the office, she enjoys cooking, golfing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends (both 2 legged and 4 legged). 


Quiocassin Animal Hospital – Dr. Carolyn Evans  

Dr. Carolyn Evans is an owner of Quioccasin Veterinary Hospital, a full service small animal veterinary hospital.

Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Evans earned her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Richmond and her Masters of Science degree in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University. After the completion of these degrees, Dr. Evans enjoyed the opportunity to teach high school Biology and Chemistry. It was her experience as a teacher as well as her love for animals that enables Dr. Evans to balance quality veterinary medicine with strong client communication. Dr. Evans received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Medicine (Virginia Tech) in 1995.

Dr. Evans has a special interest in senior health care. She enjoys working with this soulful group of patients and educating their owners about their pets aging issues. Other areas of interest include internal medicine and ophthalmology.

When not in the office, Dr. Evans enjoys gardening and spending time at the beach. She also enjoys a round of golf or a stroll with her dogs.


Veterinary Referral and Critical Care (VRCC) – Dr. Ed Fallin

Veterinary Referral and Critical Care, Inc. is a state-of-the-art 24-hour care facility that employs some of the world’s most sought after specialists in the fields of Emergency Care, Internal Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Ed Fallin, is one of the five Internal Medicine specialist at VRCC. His expertise enables him to care for pets with chronic diseases or life threatening injuries. Dr. Fallin has years of experience and spends countless hours curing and treating animals with a multitude of illnesses. He and the staff at VRCC work together along with their advanced technology to offer pets the best chance of a healthy recovery.


The Regional Veterinary Referral Center, Springfield – Dr. Nancy Gustafson

Dr. Nancy Gustafson is a board certified specialist in Radiation Oncology and is currently practicing at The Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, VA.  Her expertise is highly sought after, as she firmly believes in educating herself on all of the latest medical knowledge and advances, as this is what determines how to treat a pet’s cancer. Her compassion is noted by her direct involvement with each of her patients. Dr. Gustafson works closely with each owner in making the most caring, effective and ethical decision which is in the best interest of each patient and owner.

As a graduate of Colorado State in 1999, Dr. Gustafson received her Doctors of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following the completion of her DVM, she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. With a passion to pursue Radiation Oncology, Dr. Gustafson returned to academia at Colorado State University, and in 2003 after advanced schooling and completing her residency training program in Radiation Oncology, she received her Master’s degree (Mammalian Radiobiology). Once completing all of her schooling, in 2004 Dr. Gustafson became an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to teaching, during this time Dr. Gustafson spent additional time studying medical oncology.


Cary Street Veterinary Hospital - Dr. Kimberly Kuhn  

Dr. Kimberly Kuhn graduated from the University of Missouri in May 1989. She has been practicing veterinary medicine in Virginia since graduation.

Dr. Kuhn has found a special interest in older/geriatric dogs and cats. She enjoys helping them grow older gracefully and improving the quality of their lives through their silver and golden years. She has a strong interest in progressive medicine such as acupuncture and physical training which provides even more comfort and strength to older dogs and cats.

Outside the office, Dr. Kuhn's interests include hiking, camping, running, and biking...basically anything outside.

She currently has 3 canine children, Chloe (Lab Mix) "Old Lady", Rufus (Terrier Mix), and Roscoe (Terrier Mix). She has 3 feline children, Slinky Minky, who you may know and see at Cary Street Veterinary Hospital. Her other kitties are Rooster (Orange Tabby) and Sweet Old Levi (Buff Tabby) both of which leave at her house.


Animal Integrative Medicine – Dr. Lodi Kysor, D.V.M.

House call holistic veterinary medicine: Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, Western and Chinese herbs 


Veterinary Surgical Center – Anke Langenbach, Owner and Head Surgeon

Dr. Langenbach is a Diplomate of the American College and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons.

In 1992 she graduated from the University of Munich, College of Veterinary Medicine in Germany and afterwards moved to the United States for an internship and surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania from 1993 to 1997. During her residency she passed the American National Boards and the Clinical Proficiency Examination in order to practice veterinary medicine in the United States. After completion of her residency Dr. Langenbach stayed at the University for one year as a lecturer and completed the Surgery Boards in 1998. She then moved to the Washington DC area to work in private referral practice.

In the meantime, Dr. Langenbach has published several articles, a book chapter, and has presented at local as well as specialty meetings of the College of Veterinary Surgeons. She is also currently actively participating in clinical research at the University of Pennsylvania to help dogs and cats diagnosed with cancer.

Dr. Langenbach lives with her husband and two sons in Vienna, VA.


Courthouse Road Animal Hospital – Dr. Taylor Lyne

Born and raised in Chester, Virginia, Dr. Lyne grew up surrounded by animals, as his father was a veterinarian. During the summers and on weekends, Dr. Lyne took on various roles at the Veterinary Clinics as kennel assistant to technician. He quickly became intrigued by the relationship built between an owner and his pet.

Because of his experiences early on, Dr. Lyne decided to follow the footsteps of his father and become a veterinarian like his father. With an undergraduate degree from Emory and Henry College, Dr. Lyne then pursued his degree of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University in 1994.  His greatest interests include dermatology and orthopedic surgery. He is also certified in Tibial Plato Leveling Oosteomy. This refers to the correction of anterior cruciate leg rupture, repairing torn knee ligaments. Dr. Lyne has several aspirations which include: desires to increasing his experience in orthopedic platting, incorporating in-house telemedicine (having the ability to teleconsult with specialists via the internet), and starting a 24-hour emergency center.

In Dr. Lyne’s spare time he enjoys racing his mountain bike, golf and wrestling with is sons. He is also very involved in the Richmond community.


Manakin-Sabot Veterinary Clinic – Dr. Deidre A. O'Malley

Dr. Deidre O'Malley is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical studies at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Her externships focused on Oncology and Pathology. She enjoys treating a variety of species including canines, felines, pocket pets, and reptiles. Helping senior citizens to prolong the lives and enhance the quality of life for their animals has been a long time focus for her. Also, she spends time at the local Boys and Girls club teaching the children about proper animal care. Deidre enjoys museum outings, good food and wine with friends and family, and running with her Mastiff mix canine buddy.


Veterinary Dermatology of Richmond – Dr. Nicola Williamson

Veterinary Dermatology of Richmond was established in March of 2003 by Dr. Nicola Williamson.

Dr. Williamson is a board certified veterinary dermatologist specializing in diagnosing and treating a variety of specialized diseases. She specializes in allergies, skin diseases and ear diseases not only in dogs and cats, but pocket pets and horses as well.
